The winners of the 2021 Literary Awards are announced and the books of the 2020 edition are presented

The Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council and the Autonomous University of Barcelona announced on Tuesday, May 25, the winners of the 2021 literary awards: Gemma Romeo Puntí with the work "Silence in the fjord", presented under the pseudonym "Medea" , has been the winner of the XXVII novel prize "Valldaura-Memorial Pere Calders", endowed with 3,000 euros. Josep Civit y Mateo, with the work "Shelters", presented under the pseudonym "Juan Raspe", is the winner of the XXVI «Miquel Martí i Pol» poetry prize, endowed with 1,000 euros; and Blanca Corominas Perálvarez with the work "Memorias de una vieja Loca", presented under the pseudonym "Virginia", is the winner of the XII prize for short story for young people "Caterina Albert", endowed with 500 euros. In this edition, a total of 74 works have been presented, of which 23 have participated in the novel prize, 38 to the poetry prize and 13 to the short story prize.

The event has included the delivery of the diplomas and the presentation of the books of the 2020 winners, which could not be held, due to the health prevention measures in force at that time. The 2020 winners were: Arià Paco Abenoza with the work "Mentir a las moscas", won the XXVI novel prize "Valldaura-Memorial Pere Calders"; Albert Gavaldà Irujo, with the work "If oblivion does not fail me", was the winner of the 25th «Miquel Martí i Pol» poetry prize; and Anna Mateus and Alamon with the work "El Etna su", was the winner of the 11th prize for short story for young people "Caterina Albert".

The event was attended by the authors of the winning works and the authorities representing the two organizing institutions of the awards: Francisco Javier Lafuente, rector of the Autonomous University of Barcelona; Carlos Cordón, Mayor of the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council; Rosa María Sebastián Pérez, Vice-Rector for Innovation and Strategic Projects of the Autonomous University of Barcelona and Óscar Pons, Councilor for Culture of the Cerdanyola del Vallès City Council. The event featured a performance by the Poetic Trio group and was broadcast live on the UAB YouTube channel.
