The UAB expresses its rejection of all violence against women

On 25 November, the UAB organised an institutional event in commemoration of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. It took place at 12 noon at the Theatre Hall located on the Plaça Cívica. Seating was limited, but the event was made available online through the UAB's YouTube channel.

The event began with a minute of silence and continued with a speech by UAB Secretary General Esther Zapater, and the reading of a manifesto by the CIC Women and Science Committee on behalf of the director fo the UAB Observatory for Equality Maria Prats. The event ended with a speech by UAB Rector Javier Lafuente.

As part of the event, Maria Prats was in charge of explaining the activities organised by the UAB related to vindicating an end to violence against women: the Observatory for Equality has organised a series of conferences on gender-based violence funded under the 2020 budget of the State Accord Against Gender-Based Violence of the Spanish Ministry for Equality. This series will include a conference by journalist Cristina Fallarás "Ahora contamos nosotras" [We Count Now], which will take place on 26 November, and a conference on sexual violence in politics, entitled "La violència sexual com a projecte polític: el cas Alcasser i la construcció del terror sexual" by politologist Nerea Barjola, to be offered on 2 December. Both activities will begin at 12:30 p.m. and will be available online through the YouTube channel of the Observatory for Equality.
